Korean coach comes to coach SON... Tottenham to 'replace Postecoglou' and Frank begins negotiations → 18 billion needed

Thomas Frank is expected to replace Enze Postecoglou, who left Tottenham Hotspur.

"Tottenham started negotiations with Brentford on Frank after replacing Postecoglou. He is a strong candidate to replace Postecoglou. Brentford can claim compensation for Frank," the BBC reported on Wednesday.

"According to sources, Tottenham will cost more than 10 million pounds (about 18 billion won) to terminate Frank's contract, which is valid until 2027. This amount may vary depending on how many of his staff Frank will bring in," he added.스포츠토토

European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also said on his SNS, "Frank and Tottenham are likely to be appointed as the new coach soon if they go through official procedures in the short term."

Earlier, Tottenham announced the replacement of Postecoglou on the 7th. He lifted the trophy at a major tournament for the first time in 17 years at Tottenham, which had long been suffering from no spectators, but he fell to 17th place in the Premier League (PL), pushing him to the top of the relegation zone. With 22 losses, he broke numerous disgraceful records, including the most losses in the club's history, and in the end, Tottenham announced unanimously that they had decided to break up with Postecoglou.

Brentford head coach Frank has emerged as a strong candidate. The Danish player was appointed as Brentford manager in 2018. He received a lot of attention when he promoted the team that was in the English Championship (minor league) for the first time in 74 years even with a small amount of support. Brentford returned to the Premier League by winning the championship playoff final in the 2020-21 season.

Since then, he has maintained his performance in the mid-range. He finished 13th in the 2021-22 season, 9th in the 2022-23 season, and 16th in the 2023-24 season. Last season, he finished 10th, but his team's chance to advance to 10 teams in the European competition sparked hope at the last minute. In particular, he was seven places higher than Tottenham, which was sluggish in the league, and had 18 points more.

He also coaches Kim Ji-soo, the future of Korean soccer. Kim Ji-soo left Seongnam FC to join Brentford in the summer of 2023. He was promoted to the first team in his first season, and made his Premier League debut last season, becoming the youngest Premier Leaguer in Korea. At the time, coach Frank praised Kim Ji-soo, saying, "I had a lot of fun when Hakon Baldimarson and Kim Ji-soo made their Premier League debuts. They both showed their calmness and I was really happy."
